Description:
Evidence-based oral health policies are increasingly debated in public and political arenas, often shaped by misinformation, competing narratives, and shifting policy priorities. This webinar will explore how oral health professionals can effectively communicate evidence, engage policymakers and communities, and navigate politically sensitive discussions while maintaining scientific integrity. Participants will also examine opportunities for collaboration between private practice clinicians and public health leaders to strengthen prevention efforts, protect oral health infrastructure, and advance access to care.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize common political and misinformation-driven challenges to evidence-based oral health policies and distinguish them from legitimate scientific debate.

  2. Apply effective science communication strategies to engage policymakers, patients, and community stakeholders in politically sensitive environments.

  3. Describe the role of private practice clinicians in advancing and defending evidence-based prevention and access policies.

  4. Identify strategies to strengthen collaboration between private practice and public health leaders to protect and sustain oral health infrastructure and policy gains.
