AAPHD Membership


Membership in AAPHD is open to all individuals concerned with improving the oral health of the public. There are several membership categories based upon affiliation in dental public health. All membership categories listed below are individual memberships.

Note: All membership categories are on a calendar year basis, January 1-December 31. While AAPHD does not prorate membership dues, anyone who joins/renews after October 1 will receive the remainder of the calendar year as well as the next calendar year for the same membership fee.

Full Member
Any individual that (i) is a dentist; (ii) has completed an accredited dental school curriculum and successfully mastered all clinical competencies and national board exams; (iii) holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (“DDS”),  Doctor Dental Medicine (“DMD”) or equivalent degree from an accredited dental school (or the equivalent thereof); (iv) has completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in public health dentistry or has sufficient experience in public health dentistry (as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors and the ABDPH); and (vi) meets such other criteria as the Board of Directors may from time to time establish.   Full Memberships may be classified as: Contributing, Sustaining or Sponsoring. Primary Members who, in lieu of the regular dues, pay a stipend to support Association Activities. Categories paying dues above $180.00 are making a tax deductible contribution to the Association.
This membership category provides voting privileges in AAPHD Elections and amendment of Bylaws, and such other matters as the Board of Directors may present to the membership, and may be elected to serve on the Board of Directors.  Full members may also serve on the Association’s committees, councils and task forces, as well as chair such committees, councils or task forces.  Members also receive the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, access to members-only sections of the website, and members' rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference. $180.00
Full Contributing Member
Any full member that, in additional to the payment of annual dues, provides financial support for the Association’s activities.
This membership category receives the benefits of primary membership but also provides support for AAPHD ongoing activities (webpage, social media, newsletter, action alerts, etc.) $205.00

Full Sustaining Member
Any full member that, in addition to the payment of annual dues, provides additional financial support for the Association’s advocacy and policy development activities.

This membership category receives the benefits of primary membership but also provides support and ongoing sustaining funds for advocacy and policy development. $230.00
Full Sponsoring Member
Any full member that, in addition to the payment of annual dues, provides additional financial support for the Association’s infrastructure.
This membership category receives the benefits of primary membership but also provides support for AAPHD infrastructure and staffing of committees.

Life Membership
Any full member in good standing , who has achieved seven years of continuous membership but who is no longer in the practice of public health or preventive dentistry, should submit an email requesting Lifetime Membership to the AAPHD Membership Director at info@aaphd.org. Membership status will be verified and if the qualifications are met, the request will be forwarded to the Executive Director and placed on the agenda for the next Board of Directors Meeting. All requests are voted on by the Board of Directors.

This membership category provides all the benefits of a Full Membership.

Associate Membership

Any student, institutional, or corporate partners

 

Associate Member
Any individual (i) whose interests are consistent with the Association’s purposes and objectives.  Examples of individuals that qualify for Associate Membership include, but are not limited to, dental assistants, dental hygienists, physicians, nurses, academic researchers, administrators, etc.

This membership category provides ability to serve on the Association’s committees, councils and task forces.  Associate members may chair such committees, councils or task forces.  Members also receive the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, access to members-only sections of the website, and members' rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference. $140.00
Student Membership
Any individual currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited school of dentistry, dental hygiene, public health or other such accredited educational institution.
This membership category provides ability to serve on the Association’s committees, councils and task forces.  Members also receive the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, access to members-only sections of the website, and members' rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference. $40.00
Institutional Membership
Any corporation or other organization that provides services or products to the dental public health community.  The organization shall name a specific person as the official representative of the institution.
This membership category provides subscription to the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, access to members-only sections of the website, and members' rates for registration at the National Oral Health Conference. $180.00
